THINKING, FEELING AND CHOOSING

Thinking, Feeling and Choosing is the three things that happen in our minds. Thinking and feeling are the two important areas we need to focus on in our everyday lives. Because those two affects the choosing part (decision part). Sometimes we think according to how we feel at the moment, other times our feelings are a product of what we are thinking. You think about a bad incident, you begin to feel bad, you feel good about a new dress, you begin to think good thoughts. It all depends on what you are facing at a particular moment and your ability to control it.

Majority of the time, what we think determines how we feel, how we make decisions and how we act. Many times you might have heard people make statements like; “I acted without thinking, or I acted out of impulse or I didn’t even know what I was thinking”. All these statements indicates that there can actually be an action without forethought.

The question is; How can we discipline ourselves to think empowering thoughts, so we can actually feel good and possibly act good? If you consider this question and give it a thought, there’s a double reward that comes from it. When you think empowering thoughts, it sprouts up some positive emotional energy and you feel good. Now when you eventually make decisions and acts on them, you feel even better. So you feel good when you think the thoughts and feel much better when you act on the thoughts (Double Reward).

When we understand that these three things is what goes on in our minds (Thinking, Feeling and Choosing) it will help us to better observe them and to become better in different facets of our lives; In leadership, relationship, career, business and social life. When you understand that your action is richly based on how you feel, so if you are not feeling good at any moment, it will help you to pause, retract your movement and re-evaluate yourself before you act. Understanding this will help you make better decisions and fewer errors.

Whatever we focus on, we feel. And focus doesn’t happen without deep thoughts, so when we are mindful of what we think, it will help to filter what we focus on, which will regulate how we feel and then govern how we act. This is something that from the moment I understood it, I gained control. It doesn’t mean am perfect, but I improved.

A young man or woman that acted nice towards you today, can act like a beast towards you tomorrow, and it will seem like they have split personality. This is as a result of lack of understanding of these three things that happen in our minds. Our brains has more than 90 billion neurons that make 100 trillion connections or synapses, and this great number of neurons is responsible for the traits that make us uniquely humans; our thoughts, memories and emotions. So it’s not going to be easy to navigate all the activities that happen in our brains in order to gain control of these three things (Thinking,Feeling,Choosing) but it’s worth it when we try.

As I conclude this week’s blog, I just need you to understand that there’s always room for growth and improvement in life. There’s always a better side to move on to, you don’t have to normalize emotional torture and suffering because you think or believe there’s no other way. If you need help, seek it. Do not spend the later days of your life wallowing in pains of regret, the time to act is now, and this is what me and my team are here for, to help you, it’s what we live for.

And in case you are wondering what are the things that you can think on to make you feel good, make good decisions and act on them, for a start I will suggest you read a verse of scripture, Philippians 4:8; even if you are not a person of faith, I understand, am not here to judge anyone or preach religion. I love you just like I love everyone else and I want the best for you. That scripture will be a great way to start, I promise you.

SUBCONSCIOUS AND CONSCIOUS MIND AGREEMENT.

WONDERS ARE BORN WHEN YOU GET YOUR CONSCIOUS MIND AND YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND TO AGREE ON A THING, BELIEVE IN IT, AND ACT ON IT .

It’s Almost impossible to have in life what you don’t believe you can, although life might throw you some unexpected goodies sometimes, but no meaningful success happens without intentionality, you can’t stumble on lasting success, it’s consciously built. Growing up, we weren’t taught much about subconscious mind, only a few of us had that privilege, and am sure not one of them. We weren’t exposed to the measure of unlimited power we possess as humans. “All things are possible to them that believe” That’s what God told us, this means He already gave us unlimited power to create. And that power is embedded in our subconscious mind. But it’s unfortunate that when we don’t know the value of a thing, we won’t know how to use it effectively. Our subconscious mind has the unlimited capacity to bring into existence whatever we strongly believe. It works on auto-pilot, all it needs is what to work with, give it what to work on or with, and you will be surprised. People that lack this understanding suffer from it, they allow themselves to absorb and entertain negativity and ignorantly feeding their subconscious mind with it and in return the subconscious mind will work with it and create it for them, bringing it into reality. Many times you meet people complaining, I don’t know why nothing is working in my life, it seems like the whole world is against me, and that’s all they think and believe. Now this becomes the raw material they hand over to their subconscious mind for production.

OUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND HAS THE UNLIMITED CAPACITY TO PRODUCE OR CREATE WHAT EVER IT’S GIVEN. If this is the only thing you picked from today’s blog, it will transform your life in a great way. I want you to understand this; It’s not our subconscious mind that is the problem, it’s what we feed it to work with or work on. And the issue of what we feed it is where the conscious mind comes in play. Our conscious mind is the part that observes and interacts with our physical environment. It is influenced by our surroundings and that in turn influence what we think on the most, and remember what we think on the most tend to become a belief over time. Being cautious about what you allow and absorb in your conscious mind is the key to letting your subconscious mind create the life you truly desire. Every human desires a great life, but the question is; Do you think on those desires or is it just a passive thought? I call it a “decorative thought” those thought you think about only when you feel good. Do you think on your desires only when you feel good? and when you feel a little bit stress, you fill yourself with demeaning thoughts and negativity. You can’t enjoy the creative power of your subconscious mind that way.

When I began this journey to study and understand how powerful the subconscious mind is and how I can use it to create the life that I want, it wasn’t an easy journey. The fact that the environment I grew up in, was filled with men and women of fixed mindset made it more difficult for me. I had so many limiting beliefs, my definition of what a great life looks like for people like me was pathetic. The ideologies and belief system I was brought up in, made it seem like life has already chosen who will be great and who will not. As far as am concern, there’s already a clear distinction between us and them (by them, I mean the privileged) at least that’s what we called them. I believed that it was destined to be that way, I believed that no matter how hard I worked there are certain level I can’t reach in life. That kind of level has already been selected or predestined for the privileged whether they work hard for it or not. WHAT A STUPID MENTALITY. But I thank God, I broke those mental shackles, those mental paralysis. But it’s unfortunate that many people today still suffer those paralysis and are still in shackles. And For those people I write this blog today, listen friend, you don’t have to stay there anymore. I have tested life on that side, and now I am on the other side, and still going, but the truth I can tell you is, that life is way more better, sweeter, meaningful and fulfilling over on this side. You may not know it, you may not believe it, I didn’t many years ago, but don’t beat yourself up for it. Just know that you still will not know or believe it unless you make a decision today to leave there and step over here, and start experiencing this tremendous life. Is it going to be easy? NO, Is it going to worth it? ABSOLUTELY YES!. Listen, your conscious mind may not let you, it will battle with you. It already has too many limitations and excuses why it won’t be possible for someone like you, it might even be telling you right now that you are not good enough for this, that this is not for someone like you, you are too old or too young, you are not educated, you don’t have what it takes, your past is horrible and so on. I want YOU to scream at it right now, SHUT UP! whatever it told you was the reason you can’t do it, I want you to rephrase that statement positively and say it aloud to yourself. If I can, you can period.

The creative power of your subconscious mind cannot be positively utilized when you feed it negativity and limitations. Wonders are born when your conscious mind and subconscious mind agree on a thing. “Can two walk together unless they agreed?” “If two agree on anything and believe, it will be done for them.” Now is not too late, it’s just the beginning of a greater life and future. Now you know the part to play, and your subconscious mind will take care of the rest. Start changing your beliefs, start being intentional about what you think and focus on. Start a 30 days challenge, where you will be more intentional and observe your thoughts, and keep at it, and watch how your life will change for better. If you need help with any of this, on how to get rid of those limiting beliefs and employ empowering ones, or need to know more about the function of the mind (subconscious and conscious) so you can make great use of it, You can always reach out to us @ www.merkuriusmind.com and we will be more than happy to help you. FOCUS PROMPTS CREATIVITY

Focus won’t get you anything, focus will get you everything. In a world where there’re more distractions than ever, focus has become a rare value to possess. Increasingly adversity, unforeseen circumstances and struggle for survival, recognition and fame has robbed our minds one of its strongest power, which is power of focus. We have all been a victim. But amidst all this craziness and chaotic atmosphere that we live in, some individuals still trumps in creativity, why is that? and how do they do it? You may ask. Before we go further, I want to tell you this short simple story;

In India, there’s what they call “The Mahabharata” It is an ancient Indian epic where the main stories and some of their histories were told. In it contained some ancient proverbs too. So there’s this story of a young man called Arjuna, and he had a guru teacher. He’s being taught archery by this guru teacher along with other students. One day the Guru Dronacharya hung a wooden crow, from a tree branch and then summoned all his students. He handed each of them the bow and asked them to aim for the crow’s eye but first they should explain what they see before they shoot. The first student approached with his bow and the teacher asked “what do you see?” the student says “I see the garden, the tree, the flowers, everything!” then the teacher asked the student to step aside and not to shoot. He asked the second student and was told something similar “I see the air and leaves blowing in the wind” The Guru Dronacharya went ahead and asked few more students and they all gave similar replies.

Now came Arjuna, as he approached with his bow, the teacher asked him “what do you see?” he said; “The only thing I see is the crow’s eye”. Guru Dronacharya said; “RELEASE YOUR BOW” and Arjuna hit the crow in the middle of its eye.

WILLFUL BLINDNESS

This story is very simple, but if we can reflect on it, there’s a great lesson to be learn. Arjuna didn’t just say I see the crow’s eye, he said; “The only thing I see is the crow’s eye” that’s a huge difference. In law there’s what they call “Willful Blindness” it’s a situation in which a person seeks to avoid civil or criminal liability for a wrongful act by intentionally keeping themselves unaware of facts that would render him or her liable or implicated. To Arjuna, he chose to intentionally be unaware of every other thing surrounding him, it doesn’t matter how beautiful they seem or look. Whether the garden look so dazzling, or the formation of the wind around the leaves is captivating, Arjuna cared about none of that, he only saw one thing the crow’s eye. He knew that he can still behold those things after the shooting right? Isn’t amazing that most of the things that causes us to lose our focus or serve as a distraction are not really going anywhere. They just present themselves as priority or urgent, thereby depriving us from doing the important things that actually moves the needle in our lives.

If you are wondering about those people that trumps in creativity, how they do it? BINGO! Here’s how; They adopt willful blindness, they learn how to be intentionally unaware of the environmental distractions, so they can listen to their smooth, calm, inner voice when it speaks. That’s how they give birth to their brain child and you too can do it, if you learn the act of willful blindness. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds, but it’s very possible and practicable. It’s a journey and a practice, which I have employed and enjoyed for a while now, and I can tell you, it’s very profitable, as a matter of fact, it will help repel most of the distractions that will want to steal your focus. You need to understand this; Distractions will come, adversity will come, struggles and competition for relevance will show up, but in those state of bewilderment if you capture intentionally the important things, solutions will be born. One way to capture this is; you need to write down those things that are important to you, don’t just leave them in your head, your head can’t be trusted. That’s where all the fight happens. Writing them down will always give you an advantage, and you can always review them and edit them.

ALONE TIME

Another important thing that helps with focus is, Alone time. Create an environment that will help you concentrate and reflect. Alone time doesn’t mean loneliness, alone time helps you to reflect and meditate, but the environment in which it’s done is very important. Many are scared of being alone, they mistaken being alone from being lonely, others are scared to reach deep down inside themselves because of what they could find. Those memories, if you can’t face them, you can’t beat them. If you keep running, it will keep chasing you. You need to clear off all those garbage that has blocked or weakened your power of focus. Remember Arjuna said; “The only thing I see is the crow’s eye” He cleared off every other thing and he was able to shoot his target. Although it may not always turn out the way we want it, although we might not be able to shoot our target like Arjuna did, but with focus, every shot takes us closer to our goals and dreams. Another thing you need to watch out for; If you feel like you lack focus, you probably have a lot of fear. You think about your weaknesses rather than your strengths, you have more limiting beliefs than empowering ones, and those things puts fear in you. You can’t battle fear and focus at the same time. The guy would say, I don’t think I have a lot of patience, why don’t you focus on the other good values you have, I don’t think I can speak before a crowd, why don’t you focus on writing and creating content first, I don’t think I can write a book, why don’t you focus on recording your voice first. Like I said earlier, it’s a journey, the more we do it, the more we progress.
